Getting Started

Is this a subscription?

No. GA Wire Helper is a one-time purchase: you pay once and it’s yours. There’s no monthly or yearly fee, no renewal, no account to keep active and nothing to cancel. The version you buy keeps working for as long as you use it, even offline.

Is it useful for experimental / amateur-built aircraft?

Very. Builders of kit and plans-built aircraft design their own electrical systems, often with no manufacturer wiring diagram to work from. GA Wire Helper lets you plan the whole system before building it — size wires and breakers against AC 43.13-1B, check loads and voltage drop, and print the parts list, pinouts, wire list and wire labels you build the harness from — and leaves you with an accurate wiring diagram for the aircraft's records and future troubleshooting. GA MX Helper isn't needed for this.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Unzip the download and double-click the GA Wire Helper icon (Mac or Windows) — it opens the app in your web browser. Nothing to install, no account, no login. Chrome or Edge is recommended; the GA MX Helper link and USB laser marking need one of those two.

Does it work on Mac and Windows?

Yes — anywhere Chrome or Edge runs. It's built for a laptop or desktop screen.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only for a moment when you first activate your license key. Drawing, lists and load analysis all work offline after that.

Where are my drawings saved?

On your own computer — in the browser, and (if you link GA MX Helper) as files in a Wiring Diagrams folder next to GA MX Helper's data. Nothing is sent to us. Use Export → Project file for a separate backup.

Is there a user manual?

Yes, built in — press ? Manual in the app. It covers every tab, the wire-numbering systems, the symbol guide, and laser marking, with pictures.

Working with GA MX Helper

Do I need GA MX Helper?

No. GA Wire Helper works completely on its own. Linking the two is optional.

What does linking do?

GA Wire Helper reads your aircraft list, equipment and company info from GA MX Helper, and saves each project and PDF to that aircraft's folder under Wiring Diagrams. In GA MX Helper, each aircraft profile gets a Wiring Diagrams tab listing them, with a "+ New Wiring Diagram" button.

How do I link them?

Open GA Wire Helper with its launcher icon (in Chrome or Edge), then choose Settings → GA MX Helper link → Use GA MX Helper's folder. Both launchers share one local server, so the two apps can find each other wherever their folders are. The manual walks through it step by step.

Can GA Wire Helper change my GA MX Helper records?

No. It only reads them. It never writes to GA MX Helper's data file.

Drawings & Data

Does it come with pinouts for Garmin, Dynon and other units?

No — on purpose. Pinouts come from the installation manual you're working to, and the app makes them fast to enter: paste a pin table straight out of a manual or spreadsheet, save the part to your library, and it's there for every future project.

Which wire numbering does it use?

Your choice, per project: MIL-W-5088 style (function, circuit, segment and gauge, e.g. P8A20) or airline bundle-wire-gauge style (e.g. W123-1234-22). When adding to factory wiring, reserved 901/9001 ranges keep your numbers from clashing with the manufacturer's.

Is a GA Wire Helper drawing approved data?

No. It's a drafting and recordkeeping aid. It helps you document an installation done to acceptable or approved data — AC 43.13-1B, the manufacturer's installation manual, an STC — but it isn't approved data itself, and its calculations are estimates based on what you enter.

What can I print or export?

PDFs of the diagram, notes, connection chart, component list, parts list, wire lists, pinouts and load analysis — as a work copy or a 337 / logbook copy — on Letter, Legal, 11×17, A4 or A3. Also SVG, PNG and CSV exports, and a project backup file.

Labels & Laser Marking

How can I label wires?

Three ways: sticker labels on Avery sheets or label tape; heat-shrink ID sleeves marked with a small diode laser; or directly on the wire where the wire manufacturer and your approved data allow it. A batch checklist tracks what's done.

What laser does it work with?

A GRBL 1.1 engraver (Arduino Uno with a CNC Shield V3 and a blue diode laser) — the same hardware LaserGRBL uses. The app can drive it over USB in Chrome or Edge, or export G-code for LaserGRBL. The built-in manual includes build notes for a low-cost marker and the WM-1 feed-through wire marker, plus the laser-safety steps to read first.

Pricing & License

How much does it cost?

$49.99, one time — or included in the Complete Bundle with GA MX Helper and both of its add-ons. See Pricing.

Will my GA MX Helper key unlock it?

No — each app has its own key. The exception is the Complete Bundle, whose single key unlocks both apps.

Can I move it to a new computer?

Yes. Deactivate it under Settings → License & terms, then activate the same key on the new computer. Export your projects first and open them there.

What's your refund policy?

Like GA MX Helper, it's a digital product delivered immediately, so sales are final. If something isn't working, contact us first — we want to fix it.
