Getting Started

Is this a subscription?

No. Every GA MX Helper product is a one-time purchase: you pay once and it’s yours. There’s no monthly or yearly fee, no renewal, no account to keep active and nothing to cancel. The version you buy keeps working for as long as you use it, even with no internet connection. The add-ons and GA Wire Helper are optional one-time purchases too.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Unzip the download and double-click the GA MX Helper icon (there's one for Mac and one for Windows) — it opens the app in your web browser. Nothing to install, no account to create, no login screen. Chrome or Edge is recommended, since they can save your records to a real folder on your computer.

Does it work on Mac and Windows?

Yes, and Linux too. If it runs a modern browser, it runs GA MX Helper. It also works on tablets, though it's built and tested primarily for laptop/desktop use.

Do I need an internet connection to use it?

No. Everything core to the app — aircraft records, work orders, inventory, invoicing, checklists — works completely offline. A handful of optional features reach out to the internet when it's available (airport weather lookups, a general FAA AD awareness check on the Status page), and every one fails gracefully with no connection.

Your Data & Privacy

Where does my data actually go?

Nowhere but your own computer. There's no server behind this app — your aircraft records, customer information, and everything else stays either in your browser's local storage or in a folder on your own computer that you choose to connect. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

What happens if I lose my computer, or the file gets deleted?

Whatever wasn't backed up is gone — same as any file on your computer. This is exactly why the app supports connecting a backup folder (Settings → Data Storage): once connected, every change is also written there automatically.

How do I move my data to a new computer, or use it on a second one?

Copy the app file and your data folder (if you're using one) to the new machine, and open it there. If you're using browser-only storage, export your data first (Import/Export) and import it on the new computer.

How do I import the FAA's AD database for cross-referencing?

Go to Settings → Data Storage → "Offline FAA AD Database" and download the current AD dataset from the FAA's DRS site (a link is right there). Bring that file back and select it — the .zip DRS gives you works directly, and so does the .accdb inside it or a .csv/.xlsx if that's what you have. No conversion, no separate database software, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Can two people work in it at the same time?

Not simultaneously on the same file — it's built around one file being the single source of truth at any given moment. Multiple technicians can absolutely use the same installation though — add each one under Settings → Employees & Permissions, and everyone signs their own work with their own PIN.

Updates & Pricing

How much does it cost?

See the Pricing page for current cost. No subscription, no expiration — the version you buy keeps working for as long as you use it.

What happens when a new version comes out?

Bug fixes are automatic and free, no matter when you bought the app. A genuinely new capability is different — right now that's Engine Analytics and the Flight Data Add-On — and is sold separately, either bundled from the start or as a standalone upgrade. You'll always be able to keep using the exact version you already have.

What's Engine Analytics?

An optional feature for tracking engine trends over time — CHT, EGT, oil temperature and pressure, RPM, fuel flow, and more — typed in by hand or imported from a CSV your engine monitor exports. It builds trend charts automatically. Available bundled with the base app or as a separate upgrade — see Pricing.

I already own GA MX Helper — can I add Engine Analytics later?

Yes. Buy the Engine Analytics Upgrade separately and you'll get a new license key by email — enter it under Settings → Product Updates and it unlocks immediately.

What's the Flight Data Add-On?

An optional set of pilot-facing features: a printable Flight Checklist booklet (with automatic Weight & Balance, V-speed and airport-frequency boxes and a logged revision history), a library of Temporary Placards, Performance Data tables and charts straight from your aircraft's POH/AFM, an airport frequency directory, and the Go Flying E6B calculator with density altitude. See the Features page for the full breakdown.

I already own GA MX Helper — can I add the Flight Data Add-On later?

Yes, the same way Engine Analytics works: buy the upgrade separately, enter the license key you're emailed under Settings → Product Updates, and it unlocks immediately.

What's your refund policy?

Because it's a digital product delivered immediately, and a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, sales are final — we don't offer refunds. If something isn't working right for you, contact us first.

How do I know when an update is available?

Three ways: the banner at the top of this website always states the current version; the Changelog shows exactly what's shipped in each release; and you'll get an email whenever a new bug fix or update version is released.

About the App Itself

Is this official FAA software, or does it replace my logbooks?

No. GA MX Helper is a recordkeeping and shop-management tool — it helps you track, organize, and generate the paperwork you already produce, but it isn't an FAA system and doesn't substitute for your aircraft's official maintenance records. The exceptions are FAA Form 337 and Form 8010-4, which the app can fill as real, submittable government PDFs.

Who is this actually built for?

Independent A&Ps and traveling mechanics first and foremost — someone doing side work out of a hangar, or never in the same shop twice. It scales past that too if your work grows.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes — the Live Demo runs the real app right in your browser with sample aircraft, work orders, inventory and invoices, every feature unlocked. It's view-only, so nothing you change is saved. The Features page covers the rest.

GA Wire Helper

What's GA Wire Helper?

A separate companion app for drawing aircraft wiring diagrams. You draw the schematic and it builds the wire list, pinouts, parts list, load analysis and wire labels from it. See GA Wire Helper for the full picture.

Do I need GA Wire Helper to use GA MX Helper (or the other way around)?

No. Each app works completely on its own and is sold separately. If you own both and link them, wiring diagrams are filed with each aircraft and show up in a Wiring Diagrams tab on that aircraft's profile in GA MX Helper.

Does GA Wire Helper change my GA MX Helper data?

No. It only reads your aircraft list, equipment and company info. Its own projects and PDFs are saved in a separate Wiring Diagrams folder next to GA MX Helper's data.

Will my GA MX Helper license key unlock GA Wire Helper?

No — each app has its own key. The one exception is the Complete Bundle, whose single key unlocks both apps and both add-ons.
